Deploy with RMM tools
Any tool that can run a command as SYSTEM or root can install JodaPrint. The examples below download the installer from your own file share or storage; pin the SHA-256 from the Downloads page.
Action1 (Windows)
- Software Repository → Add custom package, upload
JodaPrint-x64.msi. - Additional parameters:
ACTIVATION_CODE=KJ74-PX9Q. The MSI already runs silently. - Deploy Software to your endpoints or a group, and let Action1 install missing apps on reconnect.
NinjaOne (Windows, macOS, Linux)
Use Software Deployment with the MSI and the argument ACTIVATION_CODE=KJ74-PX9Q. You can also add one of the scripts below to the Automation Library and run it as System/root from a policy. Store the code in a secure custom field or script variable, not in the script body.
Scripts
Windows (PowerShell, run as SYSTEM)
$code = $env:JODAPRINT_CODE # from your RMM's secure variable
$url = "https://files.example.com/jodaprint/JodaPrint-x64.msi"
$sha = "<sha256 from the Downloads page>"
$msi = Join-Path $env:TEMP "JodaPrint-x64.msi"
Invoke-WebRequest $url -OutFile $msi -UseBasicParsing
if ((Get-FileHash $msi -Algorithm SHA256).Hash -ne $sha.ToUpper()) { throw "checksum mismatch" }
$p = Start-Process msiexec.exe -Wait -PassThru -ArgumentList "/i `"$msi`" /qn ACTIVATION_CODE=$code"
exit $p.ExitCode
macOS (run as root)
#!/bin/sh
set -e
dir=$(mktemp -d)
curl -fsSL -o "$dir/JodaPrint.pkg" "https://files.example.com/jodaprint/JodaPrint.pkg"
echo "<sha256> $dir/JodaPrint.pkg" | shasum -a 256 -c -
( umask 077; printf '%s\n' "$JODAPRINT_CODE" > "$dir/jodaprint-activation-code" )
installer -pkg "$dir/JodaPrint.pkg" -target /
rm -rf "$dir"
Debian and Ubuntu (run as root)
#!/bin/sh
set -e
f=/tmp/jodaprint-agent.deb
curl -fsSL -o "$f" "https://files.example.com/jodaprint/jodaprint-agent_1.2.0_amd64.deb"
echo "<sha256> $f" | sha256sum -c -
JODAPRINT_ACTIVATION_CODE="$JODAPRINT_CODE" apt-get install -y "$f"
rm -f "$f"
On Fedora or RHEL, use dnf install -y with the .rpm.
Check the fleet
Each script's exit code tells your RMM whether the install worked. Activation is shown in the dashboard: filter Devices by the group of your activation code. To check one computer from the RMM, run jodaprint-agent status there: it shows the service state and the printers.
