Deploy with Microsoft Intune (Windows)
Use the MSI. The setup EXE is meant for people who install JodaPrint by hand.
Option A: line-of-business app (simplest)
-
Intune admin center → Apps → Windows → Add → Line-of-business app. Upload
JodaPrint-x64.msi. UseJodaPrint-arm64.msiin a second app for Windows on Arm. -
App information → Command-line arguments:
ACTIVATION_CODE=KJ74-PX9QAdd
CHANNEL=betafor a pilot group, orCLOUD_URL=https://…for a self-hosted cloud. -
Assignments: assign it as Required to a device group, not a user group. JodaPrint is installed for the whole machine.
Intune detects the app by its MSI product code, which changes with each version. When you publish a newer MSI as a new app with supersedence on the old one, Intune upgrades it in place. The device keeps its activation.
Option B: Win32 app (.intunewin)
Choose this for more control over detection, or to use a dependency or a script.
- Package the MSI with the Microsoft Win32 Content Prep Tool:
IntuneWinAppUtil.exe -c .\jodaprint -s JodaPrint-x64.msi -o .\out - Install command:
msiexec /i JodaPrint-x64.msi /qn ACTIVATION_CODE=KJ74-PX9Q /l*v "%ProgramData%\JodaPrint-install.log"
- Uninstall command:
msiexec /x JodaPrint-x64.msi /qn - Install behavior: System. Device restart behavior: No specific action.
- Detection rule: File
C:\Program Files\JodaPrint, filejodaprint-agent.exe, "File or folder exists". To force upgrades, use "Version, greater than or equal to" the new version instead. - Return codes: keep the defaults (0 success, 1641 and 3010 restart).
Keep the code out of reach
The activation code sits in the app's command line, visible to Intune administrators. Use a code with an expiry. When the rollout is done, revoke it in the dashboard: installed computers stay activated.
Troubleshooting
%ProgramData%\JodaPrint-install.log, when you used/l*v. The activation code is hidden in MSI logs.C:\Program Files\JodaPrint\jodaprint-agent.exe statusin an administrator prompt.- Agent logs:
%ProgramData%\JodaPrint\logs.
