Deploy JodaPrint to many computers
Install the agent with your device management tool and activate it in the same step. Each computer then appears in the dashboard under Devices, in the group you chose.
1. Create an activation code for the fleet
Dashboard → Devices → Add device:
- Uses: up to 1 000 computers can share one code.
- Expires in: up to 30 days. Create a new code for later waves.
- Group: computers join this device group and receive its configuration.
Treat the code like a password: anyone who has it can add a computer to your organization until it expires or runs out of uses. You can see and revoke codes on the same page.
2. Pick the installer
| Platform | File | Activation code goes in |
|---|---|---|
| Windows x64 | JodaPrint-x64.msi | MSI property ACTIVATION_CODE |
| Windows on Arm | JodaPrint-arm64.msi | MSI property ACTIVATION_CODE |
| Windows, by hand | JodaPrint-Setup-en.exe (also -fr, -ht) | Same properties, or activate later |
| macOS 13+ (Apple silicon and Intel) | JodaPrint.pkg | Configuration profile (io.jodaprint.agent), or a jodaprint-activation-code file next to the pkg |
| Debian, Ubuntu | jodaprint-agent_<version>_amd64.deb / _arm64.deb | Environment variable JODAPRINT_ACTIVATION_CODE, or /etc/jodaprint/activation-code |
| Fedora, RHEL | jodaprint-agent-<version>-1.x86_64.rpm / .aarch64.rpm | Same as Debian |
Every file has a .sha256 checksum on the Downloads page.
Optional settings, on every platform:
| Setting | Windows (MSI property) | macOS (profile key) | Linux (environment) |
|---|---|---|---|
Update channel stable or beta | CHANNEL | Channel | JODAPRINT_CHANNEL |
| Self-hosted cloud URL | CLOUD_URL | CloudURL | JODAPRINT_CLOUD_URL |
Offline config (jodaprint-agent config export) | CONFIG_FILE | jodaprint-config.json next to the pkg | /etc/jodaprint/config.json |
A failed activation (expired code, no network) never fails the install. The agent is installed and runs. Activate it later with jodaprint-agent activate <code> (as administrator or root), or push the command with your tool.
3. Check
On the computer, jodaprint-agent status shows whether the service is running and lists the printers it found. In the dashboard, an activated computer shows online within a minute.

Uninstall
| Platform | Keep data | Remove data too |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | msiexec /x JodaPrint-x64.msi /qn | add REMOVE_DATA=1 |
| macOS | sudo /Library/JodaPrint/bin/uninstall.sh | add --remove-data |
| Debian/Ubuntu | sudo apt remove jodaprint-agent | sudo apt purge jodaprint-agent |
| Fedora/RHEL | sudo dnf remove jodaprint-agent | then sudo rm -rf /var/lib/jodaprint /etc/jodaprint |
Kept data (queue, logs, device key) lets a reinstalled computer keep its identity in the dashboard. To free the device's licence slot, deactivate it in the dashboard.
